Stuff 4 Joy drive

Drop off your used stuffed animals and LEGO pieces in the donation box at the Manhattan Beach library. The toys will be donated to children and families in the Philippines on behalf of the charity, Stuff 4 Joy. Donations accepted Oct. 13 through Oct. 27.

Halloween card making workshop

Having a Halloween party? Or just want to spook your friends this holiday season? Use your creativity in a hands-on greeting card workshop to create Halloween cards and invitations at the Creative Arts Center. Materials included. $45 for residents, $49.50 for non-residents. Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 17, from 6 – 9 p.m.

Short story discussion group

Interested in reading and discussing short stories? The group of older adults will meet on Oct. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Joslyn Community Center. The group meets every third Monday of the month.

South Bay Bicycle Master Plan

El Segundo’s City Council was the first to approve on the South Bay Bicycle Master Plan on Tuesday. If approved by the area’s seven cities, the plan would bring a 214-mile bike network to the South Bay, 30 miles of which would be in Manhattan Beach.

Below is the schedule for when the rest of the city councils will see the plan.

Lawndale City Council: Oct. 17; 6:30 p.m. at 14717 Burin Ave.

Redondo Beach City Council: Oct. 18; 7 p.m. at 415 Diamond St.

Hermosa Beach City Council: Oct. 25; 7 p.m. at 1035 Valley Drive

Gardena City Council: Nov. 8; 7 p.m. at 1700 West 162nd St.

Manhattan Beach City Council: Nov. 15; 7 p.m. at 1400 Highland Ave.

Torrance City Council: Nov. 22; 7 p.m. at 3031 Torrance Blvd.
