Redondo Beach About Town – Police Beat
Vish Chatterji named
BCHD Board Member
During a public meeting on Tuesday, the Beach Cities Health District Board of Directors appointed Redondo Beach resident Vish Chatterji to fill the vacant seat created by the April resignation of Lenore Bloss. Chatterji, who vied for a seat on the board in the 2016 election and narrowly lost to incumbents Bloss, Diehl and Poster, received a 4-0 vote from the governing body to serve until the Nov. 8, 2018 election.
The board unanimously appointed Chatterji from a field of 37 applicants, swearing him in after narrowing the field to five candidates.
“It certainly wasn’t an easy decision, but Vish is the right candidate,” said BCHD Board President Michelle Bholat. “I believe his business acumen and background in holistic health practices will create balance on the board, and I look forward to his service.”
“I’m honored to have been appointed to the BCHD Board of Directors and excited to serve in the stewardship of this thought-leading organization, among an excellent group of people,” said Chatterji. “I look forward to sharing my holistic perspectives on health, on a path to making our Beach Cities one of the happiest places to live in the world.”
The vacancy on the BCHD board was created by the resignation of Lenore Bloss, who was elected in November 2016 to a four-year term after initially being appointed in 2015 to fill the vacancy created by the unexpected passing of Dr. Robert Grossman. She stepped down from the board on April 26, 2017 due to health issues.
Redondo Beach Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Avenue E on June 6 at 5:21 a.m. on a report of a vehicle alarm sounding and a male suspect seen walking away with a backpack. As officers arrived on scene, another report came in, advising police that the suspect was seen trying a vehicle door handle which was parked in a driveway a few houses away.
Officers approached on foot and found a subject matching the description inside another parked vehicle placing items in his pockets. Officers detained the subject without incident. He was determined to be on probation for burglary. He was arrested and booked for vehicle tampering and vehicle burglary.
