This Friday, March 31, 2017 the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) will host a Small Business Cyber Security Summit. Congressman Ted Lieu is scheduled to serve as the event’s keynote speaker, focusing on the imminent need for small business owners to protect themselves in today’s climate of ever-changing technology and the potential threat of cyber attacks. Lieu will be joined by an expert panel who will answer questions from summit attendees.

“The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to providing its members and the South Bay’s small business community with invaluable programs to empower effective decision-making with regard to mitigating cyber security threats and working proactively rather than reactively to protect themselves and their clients,” said Donna Duperron, President and CEO of the TACC.

Recent reports released by the House Small Business Committee show that cybersecurity incidents can have a devastating effect on small businesses and 60% of small companies will close within six monthsfollowing a cyberattack. A 2014 survey from the National Small Business Association estimated the average cost of a cyber attack on a small business to be over $32,000.

The Summit is free of charge and open to all who wish to attend, but seating is very limited.
The event will be hosted by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, located on the So Cal R.O.C. campus in Building B at 2300 Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance. Attendees should RSVP at www.torrancechamber.com/cybersecurity as soon as possible.
