VOLUNTEER CENTER ANNOUNCES FAMILY-FOCUSED CARNIVAL

Torrance Nonprofit’s Inaugural Family Fun Faire to Feature Carnival Games, Bunny Petting Zoo, Food Trucks, Bouncy Slide, Kid-Driven Storytime and Free Admission

The Volunteer Center South Bay-Harbor-Long Beach has announced its inaugural Heart of Helping Family Fun Faire fundraiser, which will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the parking lot and street in front of the Volunteer Center in Old Torrance (1230 Cravens Avenue, Torrance 90501).

The family-focused carnival will feature a variety of entertainment for both kids and adults, including games, prizes, food, face-painting, bunny petting zoo, cookie decorating, a unique interactive kid-driven story time experience, and an opportunity to win four Disneyland Park-Hopper passes valued at more than $600 (winner need not be present), a bicycle and other prizes. Admission is free, and 10 game tickets will cost $5. Guests must register to attend at volcenter.org. More than 200 people have registered to attend and there is space for just 150 more guests. More volunteers are also needed and can sign up online.

Proceeds from this event will help the Volunteer Center continue key services that engage and inspire volunteers to give back to the community, including:

Operation Teddy Bear, which distributes more than 5,600 literacy schoolbags filled with educational items to underserved first-graders

Food for Kids, providing hungry, low-income, and homeless elementary schoolchildren with bags of food to take home on Fridays and eat over the weekend

The Youth Leadership Development program, which focuses on empowering and inspiring youth to give back through community service

Volunteer matching, offering local residents the opportunity to match their time and talents with meaningful community service at a nearby nonprofit
