SHADE HOTEL INVITES COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN MARINA CLEANUP IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY
Redondo Beach’s New Waterfront Luxury Boutique Hotel Hosts a Marina Cleanup Event in Their Ongoing Commitment to Eco-Friendly Initiatives
Shade Hotel, the new luxury boutique hotel on the forefront of the Redondo Beach Revitalization Project, is dedicated to maintaining the beauty of the city’s most beloved resource and will host a volunteer marina clean up event on Sunday, April 23, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. By encouraging participation from the local community and members of Shade Hotel team, the brand is hoping to raise awareness about the importance ofprotecting the environment from the negative effects of litter and other pollutants.
This event is open to volunteers of all ages and the hotel will provide gloves, trash bags, water, snacks and sunscreen for all who participate.
“The Shade brand is dedicated to implementing and executing sustainable practices that protect and preserve our environment,” said Sandra Vivas, general manager of Shade Hotel. “We are excited to engage our community in our efforts to maintain the cleanliness of the city’s beautiful marina.”
In partnership with the non-profit organization, Plant with Purpose, Shade Hotels have extended their support on a global level. Guests staying at one of the brand’s properties can decline housekeeping and other hotel services and in return, Shade will donate trees equivalent to the number of nights to Plant with Purpose. To date, Plant with Purpose has planted 20 million trees across the globe.
The green-oriented hotel brand has a deep-rooted commitment to support environmentally sustainable efforts through guest relations, employee engagement and hotel operations and has implemented various practices at both properties. Some of the brand’s efforts include incorporating recycled paper supplies and trash bags; energy efficient and nontoxic LED lighting in all public areas; installed water flow reducers on all faucets and shower heads; and a gas conserving system on boilers.
