West, Sharman, Cousy on Lakers Celtics Rivalry

Redondo Beach’s own Bill Sharman, one of only three men to make the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach and a player, agreed with Jerry West’s assessment of the match-up everyone in LA is talking about, from the mayor and police chief on down.
“It’s going to be really hard for the Lakers, but I think they will win it in six or seven games,” said the 84-year-old Sharman.

Montera’s celebrate 70th wedding anniversary
Ralph and Josephine Montera celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on April 21, 2010. They married in Pueblo, Colorado at Mt Carmel Cathedral in 1940. Ralph talks about how they met at a political rally at the Pueblo City Hall in 1938. He can still remember what she was wearing and how her hair was set.

Voters in Tuesday’s 36th Congressional District Democratic primary will choose between progressive challenger Marcy Winograd and incumbent Jane Harman, the self described “Grandma of the Blue Dogs” (Democrats focused on reducing federal spending). Republican political consultant Allan Hoffenblum has described the contest as “an ideological battle for the soul of the Democratic Party.”
