The Mira Costa ice hockey club opened up its season last week with a 3-1 victory over South Torrance at HealthSouth in El Segundo. The victory extended Mira Costas win streak to 22 games.
Junior Nick king scored two goals. Freshman Andrew Minc scored the third goal and sophomore Daniel Hopper completed a playmaker (three assists).
Mira Costa has won the Southern California championships the past two years. The South Bay league includes Redondo, West Torrance, South Torrance, Peninsula, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, El Segundo, Loyola and Mira Costa. The league is Sponsored by HealthSouth and the LA Kings.
This years Mustangs are led by junior Nick King, sophomore Daniel Hopper, senior Kyle Fukumoto and junior goalie Casey Sitchler. The team is sponsored by FCM Fireplaces, Anastasi Development and the Barrett Group.
The team plays again today at Health South Training Center at against Harvard Westlake at 5:30 p.m.
