Police Beat
Another bad Internet date
A woman was left with abrasions and bruises after a maniacal cab ride back to her Manhattan Beach home after a date with a man she met on the Internet, police said. During the ride from Patrick Molloy's tavern in Hermosa Beach around 2 a.m. Sunday, she was attacked, verbally abused and finally shoved out of the taxi onto the pavement by a push to her face that banged the back of her head on the asphalt, according to a police report. She reported to Manhattan Beach police that a North Hollywood man grabbed her hand and hailed a cab after she had sat down a short distance from where he was talking to other women. He became enraged in the car, cursing her for being jealous, and put both of his hands around her neck and squeezed, she told police. She began crying and pleaded with the driver to stop and let her out, which the driver did not do until he got to her residence, she told police. She suffered abrasions or bruises on her eyelid, neck, back and left leg and ankle. The two had met through the dating service www.la.matchmaker.com, according to the police report.
