Burning down the house

At 5:35 a.m. on Nov. 7, police responded to a man who was calling from the front yard of his residence. The caller said he and his girlfriend had an argument, and he wanted her removed from the residence. While he was on the phone with the Emergency Communications Center, the man reported he saw flames and smoke coming from his residence. His girlfriend exited the house and drove away. The Fire Department handled the fire while police units located the woman at Catalina and Ave I, officers said. She was taken into custody. Follow-up investigation by investigators resulted in an admission of the crime of arson, police said.

Gang bangers banged

The South Bay Gang Task Force worked our area on Friday evening and eight arrests resulted for various charges; four were for alleged parole or probation violations, one for alleged possession of methamphetamine, one on a warrant for a no-bail parolee at large, one parolee wanted by his P.O, and one for an alleged juvenile offense.

Yoshinoya’s Robbed

At 9:52 a.m. on Nov. 11, officers were dispatched to the Yoshinoya Restaurant, 4051 Inglewood Ave., responding to an armed robbery that had just occurred. The suspect knocked on the door and an employee went to see what he wanted. The suspect produced a weapon and entered the location, forcing two employees into a back room where they were tied up. The manager was ordered to open a safe, and the robber took its contents, tied up the manager, and fled the scene. The employees were able to free themselves and call police.

Ralph’s Robbed

At 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 11, a call was received form Ralph's Market, 1413 Hawthorne Blvd, reporting an armed robbery had occurred. Two suspects had entered via the front doors wearing sweatshirts with hoods partially covering their faces. One suspect stayed by the front door acting as a lookout while the other suspect approached the checkers with his weapon visible. He ordered everyone not to move and collected cash from the three cashiers. The suspects exited the front doors and left on foot northbound. Officers searched the area but they were unable to locate the suspects.
