"Club drugs" discussion

Parents of teens must educate themselves about what could be going on when their teen(s) attend parties. Sergeant Devon Chase from the Torrance Police Department is facilitating a discussion about so-called "club drugs" and "rave parties." SB Violence Council meeting

The South Bay Family Violence Council invites Human Service Professionals and interested members of the community to their monthly meeting today at Little Company of Mary Hospital Center for Health Education, 4101Torrance Blvd. The topic is sexual assault and date rape. Surfwriters meeting

Al Martinez, award-winning journalist, novelist, TV writer, and columnist is speaking at the Surfwriters meeting beginning at 11 a.m. Palos Verdes Art Center, RPV. Interested persons are welcome and reservations are suggested. 375-6956.

Awards luncheon

The 89th annual Installation of Officers and Directors and Awards Luncheon presented by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce is at Ein Stein’s Restaurant, 1301 Manhattan Ave. The 2001 Man of the Year and the 2001 Woman of the Year will also be honored. State Librarian at luncheon

Noted author and California State Librarian Dr. Kevin Starr is the featured speaker at a luncheon sponsored by the Friends of the El Camino College Library and History Department.
