Haunted "round" house

The entire Roundhouse Aquarium at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier is being transformed into a spooky marine-themed haunted house. Tonight’s event is for older kids and adults from 6:30-10:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 27 from 1-4 p.m. it’s G-rated for younger kids and parents; and from 5:30-10:30 p.m. it’s scary for older kids and adults. Sunday, Oct. 28 hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. G-rated during the day, scary after dark. $3 for kids 12 and under, $5 for kids 13 and up and adults. 379-8117.

Halloween carnival

Alta Vista’s Haunted House and Carnival takes place today from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the cafeteria. The events include games, face painting and food. 316-4986.

Family carnival

The Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Family Halloween Carnival and Haunted House takes place at the Manhattan Heights Community Center, 1600 Manhattan Beach Blvd from 1-5 p.m. The carnival is designed for ages 2-12. A costume contest and parade begins at 1:20 p.m., and the "G-Rated" haunted house opens at 2 p.m. Some activity fees are $.25-$1.50 and others are free. 802-5419.

Kids party

Puppet Master Jim Gamble and his Monster Mash puppet show are at Whole Foods Market beginning at 3 p.m. After the show, trick or treat in the store, and enter the parade and costume contest. 405 N. PCH, RB. 376-6931.

MB safe trick or treating

Manhattan Beach downtown businesses are distributing candy from 4-6 p.m. Merchants will have a pumpkin poster in their windows inviting young trick or treaters inside for candy. 802-5408.

Wednesday, October 31

Halloween on the hill

The Peninsula Shopping Center (Hawthorne at Silver Spur) is presenting store-to-store "trick or treat" and the Avenue (Silver Spur between Hawthorne and Crenshaw) is having candy stations at each level from 4:30-6 p.m. Peninsula Shopping Center is also having a haunted house at the atrium from 3-6 p.m. and a monster mash with puppeteer, Jim Gamble at 4 p.m. Crafts for the kids with monster mask-making is at The Avenue’s Small Wonders store, 3rd level from 3-4 p.m. For more information call 541-2242 or 541-0688.

Ghosts and goblins

Pumpkin patch

Resurrection Lutheran Church is presenting "Pumpkin Patch," a family event featuring food, games, prizes, and lots of fun. Food and game tickets will be sold at a nominal fee. 6-7:30 p.m. 330 Palos Verdes Blvd., RB. 375-5382.

Howl

The 13th annual Halloween Howl in Hermosa Beach takes place at the Clark Building, 861 Valley Dr. from 6-8:30 p.m. Children 12 and under are invited to participate in a ghoulish good time. Food, games, costume contest, entertainment, and prizes. Bring a goody bag for treats. Free admission. 318-0280.

Great pumpkin party

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is sponsoring "The Great Pumpkin Party" for a fun, safe, wholesome alternative to Halloween for young children in the South Bay. Wear your costumes and enjoy the games, candy, food, giant jumper, prizes and more. Corner of PCH and Ave. D, RB. 6-8 p.m. 540-5252.
