The third annual South Bay Hands on Art fundraising event is being held at the Alta Vista Community Center, RB from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The public is invited to join the festivities that include a raffle, silent auction, do-it-yourself art projects and refreshments. Pennsylvania Dutch fair

The 8th annual Pennsylvania Dutch Fair is being held at South Bay Church of the Brethren. The event includes a quilt display, a craft, gift and book sale, a display of Pennsylvania Dutch art and antiques and a selection of homemade soups, pies and breads for sale. Craft fair

West High School’s Senior Class of 2002 is sponsoring a craft fair at the school, 20401 Victor St., Torrance from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Vendors are selling handcrafted items and holiday gifts. 370-0859.

Parish fair

The 31st annual parish fair at American Martyrs Catholic Church takes place today and tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 21. This popular community event features game booths, arts and crafts boutiques, a silent auction, live entertainment and homemade food and desserts. Admission to the fair is free and game tickets are 50 cents each. The hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. For tickets and more information call 545-6869.

Senior Club’s faire

Oktoberfest

Pancake breakfast

The Woman’s Club of Hermosa Beach is holding its 9th annual pancake breakfast at the Clark Building, 861 Valley Drive from 8 a.m.-noon. There is entertainment, raffle drawings, fire truck, police vehicles and an ice cream bar. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. 376-4532.

Autumn Sea Fair 2001

Friend-to-Friend

Beach Cities Health District’s Community Care Services is looking for volunteers for its Friend-to-Friend program. Friend-to-Friend volunteers provide older and/or disabled adults with socialization, friendship and a link to community resources. Volunteers are trained and then matched with appropriate participants on the basis of geography, need and interests. For more information call 374-3426, ext. 143.

Teach a child to read

RSVP of South Bay is seeking volunteers 55+ for the "America Reads Program" in the Beach Cities. If you can give one or two hours a week to help a child learn to read please call Elaine at RSVP 320-3322.

Teen Center

The Redondo Beach Teen Center has started their school year program. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 3-8 p.m. (Wednesdays hours are 2:30-8 p.m.). It is a drop-in program for teens 12-17 years old who live in the city of Redondo Beach or attend a Redondo Beach School. Activities include pool tournaments, arts and crafts, games, special contests, trips and much more. For further information call 318-0610, ext. 4563.

Dog license renewal
