Eleanor Lynn and Earl L. Feys have been named woman and man of the year by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
Lynn volunteers on a regular basis as a teachers aide at Hermosa View School, pitches in each year on the Beach Cities Toy Drive and has performed volunteer work for the chamber of commerce-run street fairs for many years. She has volunteered at the nursery at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for the past decade.
Lynn is also very active in the Womens Club of Hermosa Beach, currently serving as financial secretary.
Feys moved to Hermosa in 1975 and has worked for the past 25 years on Project Touch. He is a 20-year member of the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club, currently serving as secretary.
Feys is cofounder of the Hermosa Beach Toastmasters Club and has served three terms on the Los Angeles Democratic Central Committee. He has volunteered for the chambers street fairs for the past two decades, and has done volunteer work on the Hermosa Beach Coordinating Council for the past 10 years.
Feys is a member of the ALTRUS literacy group and picks up bottles, cans and plastic litter five times a week throughout the city for recycling efforts that benefit charity.
He has performed volunteer work for voter registration drives, car shows, the recent city picnic, the Easter season "Eggstravaganza," and Friends of the Library.
The chamber has selected a man and woman of the year since 1961, recognizing volunteer service in civic, social and economic activities.
The judging committee is made up of past men and women of the year. The current committee included Rick Learned, Thelma Greenwald, Gary Wayland, Cathy McCurdy, Kathy Bergstrom, John Hales, Betty Evans, Mick Felder and Jim Fucille.
This years awards will be presented by last years people of the year, Yvonne Amarillas and Richard McCurdy, at a luncheon 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at Ein Steins Restaurant and Brewery. For information call 376-0951.
