Hometown 10K Run
Applications are now available for the 24th annual Manhattan Beach Hometown 10k run, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 a.m. On-line registration will take place at www.active.com through Sept. 24. Registration forms and additional information can be obtained at Manhattan Sports, 300 Manhattan Beach Blvd., at Manhattan Beach City Hall, 1400 Highland Ave., at Super Sports in the Manhattan Village Shopping Center, at Gorilla Sports, 3701 Highland Ave., or at Wild Birds Unlimited at 25416 Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance.
Arts Festival
The Manhattan Beach Arts Festival will close three blocks of the downtown area for its art extravaganza Sunday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, which drew more than 10,000 people to the downtown area last year, will include art-making workshops, entertainment, food and dance for children and adults. All activities and performances are free. The event is sponsored by the Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Departments Cultural Arts Division and several local businesses.
Baby needs a new pair of roller blades
Someone stole a number of personal items from a house on the 3800 block of the Strand Wednesday morning, police said. The victim reported that a baby jogger valued at $150, a pair of roller blades valued at $100, and a tricycle valued at $40 were taken. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.
Mustang Sally
Someone vandalized a car in the 2700 block of Manhattan Avenue and stole parts from it Sunday night, police said. The victim reported that the left and right taillights were taken from his 1981 Ford Mustang. The victim estimated his loss at $100, police said.
Lets go surfing now
Someone stole a surfboard from a home in the 1100 block of Morningside Drive Monday morning, police said. The victim estimated the boards value at $300, police said.
