Two-hour walk

The Palos Verdes Land Conservancy, City of Los Angeles and Coastwalk invite the public to join them in an easy, docent-led, two-hour walk from Wilder Annex to Point Fermin to see the smallest butterflies in the Western Hemisphere, the Pygmy Blues. Used book sale

Science workshop

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s Science at the Seashore summer workshop, "Wet Knees, a Microscope and the Fortunate Observer," begins today through Friday, August 17. The workshop gives 7th through 9th graders a chance to observe specimens along the shore, study their finds through microscopes and explore careers in marine science fields. 3720 Stephen White Dr., San Pedro. $85. 9 a.m.-noon. Good driver discount

An AARP 55 Alive driving class is being offered today and continues on Wednesday, August 15 at the Knob Hill Community Center, RB.
