ECC volleyball team honored
El Camino College men’s volleyball coach Richard Blount was named co-coach of the year by the South Coast Conference. Four of his players were named to the All Conference team. The team had its best year since 1982. Blount, a Hermosa Beach resident, in his second year at El Camino, led the team to a second place league finish and third place in the state.
Mira Costa graduate Tamer George and Peninsula graduate Stewart Solomon were named to the All Conference First Team. Nick Smith of North Torrance and Ryan Stuntz of South Torrance were named to the All Conference Second Team.
El Camino president Tom Fallow is expected to name a full time coach this week to head both El Camino’s men’s and women’s volleyball programs. Blount and women’s coach LeValley Pattison have both been part time employees of the athletic department. ER
