A man armed with a handgun allegedly took a woman’s car on the 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, the evening of Sunday April 29. The man approached the woman from behind as she was getting into her 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. He attempted to force her into her vehicle. The woman dropped her keys and fled. The man then grabbed the keys and fled in the car, police said.

What goes around

Two Los Angeles men smashed the window of a 1992 Honda Civic parked in the 2900 block of Perkins Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 police reported. After removing the car’s stereo and speakers, the two men drove off. A witness observed the crime and followed the vehicle, calling police on a cell phone. Police officers joined the pursuit, and the occupants of the Honda, apparently unfamiliar with the area, drove back past the crime scene where other officers were investigating. Two suspects were arrested, officers reported.

Punk and disorderly

Shortly after 8 p.m. the Torrance Police Department called in local units to help deal with crowds at a local shopping center. Fans of the bands "The Misfits" and "Black Flag" were lining up to get autographs from the musicians. Police reported that the situation was stabilized before they left. ER
