Cart theft
A woman reported to police that someone stole her purse while she was shopping at a store in the 1200 block of Sepulveda. Police said she was in the stationary section when she noticed a woman hanging around her cart. She turned away for a second, and when she turned back her purse was gone. She asked the other woman if she had seen anyone take her purse. The suspect said no and quickly left the store. Police said credit cards, a social security card, a checkbook and an ATM card were taken in the purse. The stores surveillance camera was down, thus no suspect was observed on tape, police said.
Jeep thief
A couple living in the 2100 block of Ardmore Avenue reported to police that someone ransacked their Jeep parked inside their garage. Police said the husband parked the Jeep inside the garage at 8:30 p.m., leaving it unlocked with the keys in the ignition and the garage door open. When the husband returned to the car, he found the contents of the glove compartment scattered all over the back seat and a $150 camera missing, police said.
ATM ambush
A man was ambushed and robbed at an ATM Friday evening, police said. At 6:45 p.m. the man went to an ATM in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue. While he had his card in his hand, a man appeared on his right and said "Hey, hows it going?" then produced a silver handgun and said "Withdraw $300 unless you want to get shot," police said. After handing over $300, the victim was told to wait for five minutes before leaving. The suspect, a 6-foot-2 white male approximately 25 years old, was seen driving away in a large, beat-up American car.
