Unlucky number
A Hermosa man stopped at a store to buy a Lotto ticket about 6 p.m. Monday. When he got back to his unlocked car he found that his leather jacket had been stolen, he reported to police. The jacket is trimmed with rabbit fur and lambs wool and lined with satin.
Emergency parking
A Hermosa man stopped to pick up his dry cleaning about 2 p.m. Friday, forgot to set his parking brake, and saw his car roll across the street into a "no parking" sign, police reported. The man called police, and told them he would pay to repair the minor damage to the sign.
I do
A burglary at a home in Hermosa Beach over the weekend netted two gold watches, three sweatshirts, 20 compact discs, a video camera, a handgun, a shotgun, a rifle and a "headpiece" for a wedding, police reported. The stolen items were valued together at $2,300.
This Buds for them
Two men walked into a Hermosa market about 6:15 p.m. Monday, strolled to a cooler at the back of the store and grabbed an 18-pack and a 20-pack of Budweiser beer, then bolted, police said.
"Videotape available on request, but camera points at paying counter," a police report noted.
Fanny packed
A Manhattan Beach woman put her fanny pack in the corner on the floor of a Pier Plaza nightspot long enough to enjoy a dance Friday night, and when she returned the pack had been packed away by someone, she reported.
Missing with the pack were $300, a checkbook, her drivers license, one credit card, earrings valued at $350, Ray-Ban sunglasses valued at $125, and keys to a car, house and safe deposit box.
Purse snatched
A Hermosa woman placed her purse on the back of her chair as she sat inside a Pier Plaza establishment Friday night, and at the end of the evening it was no longer there, she reported to police. Missing with the purse were a palm pilot, wallet and makeup.
Student of life
A Hermosa Valley School student reported the loss of a cell phone Saturday before last in a report to police.
"I went to school with the phone securely in my backpack, and when I got home it was not there," the student wrote.
The Nokia phone was valued at $99. ER
