Deputy Attorney General Conrad Schroeder led the way in fund-raising among Redondo Beach City Council candidates as of last week, building a campaign war chest of $7,130, according to documents on file at City Hall.
California Correctional Peace Officers contributed $500 to Schroeder during a reporting period ending Feb. 17. Contributing $100 apiece were Lacaze Development Company of Torrance and Rob Katherman of Rancho Palos Verdes.
Schroeders opponent in the citys District 4, Kurt Schmalz, raised $6,650.
Schmalz received $500 apiece from the Redondo Beach Police Officers Association, Redondo Beach Marina President Bill McMaster, and the Los Angeles Physicians Committee.
Incumbent District 2 Councilman Kevin Sullivan raised $4,575 for his campaign.
Sullivan received $250 apiece from William Webster, King Harbor Yacht Club commodore, the Beach Cities Democratic Club, Lacaze Development and AES Corp.
Businessman Jim Coleman, Sullivans challenger, accepted no contributions but spent $1,800 on his campaign. ER
