Ex-president’s brother is charged in HB disturbance

by Robb Fulcher

Former President Clinton’s half brother Roger has been charged with disturbing the peace as well as driving under the influence following his arrest last month in Hermosa Beach. Clinton, 44, of Torrance, is scheduled for arraignment April 2.

Clinton’s arrest came just over a month after he received a pardon from his presidential brother for a cocaine conviction, for which Roger Clinton had served one year in prison.

He was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, Hermosa Beach Police Officer Paul Wolcott said.

Clinton, driving a Ford Explorer, bumped a curb making a right turn, made a left tun after signaling for a right turn, straddled the center line on two streets, stopped well over the limit line in two intersections, and made two more left turns without signaling, Wolcott said.

Clinton failed a field sobriety test, then was taken to the police station where he registered blood-alcohol levels of .08 and then .09 on a breath test, Wolcott said. California law sets .08 as the level at which a driver is presumed to be impaired by alcohol, Wolcott said.

Before the arrest, a police officer on foot patrol shooed Clinton away from the Lighthouse Café after employees were trying to clear the nightspot shortly before closing time, and Clinton allegedly tried to get back inside, Wolcott said.

Clinton allegedly tried to push his way past a doorman, "verbally berated" the man and challenged him to a fight, Wolcott said.

The Hermosa Beach city prosecutor formally charged Clinton with driving under the influence of alcohol, and disturbing the peace by challenging someone to fight in a public place, Wolcott said. ER
