The Youth Commission will host a candidate’s forum of school board and city council hopefuls Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the city council chambers at 415 Diamond St. The League of Women Voters is putting on a school board candidate forum Thursday, Feb. 22 at Alta Vista Elementary School, 815 Knob Hill Ave. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Registered Redondo voters can request absentee ballots until Tuesday, Feb. 27, one week before the March 6 election. Absentee ballots can be mailed to the city clerk’s office at 415 Diamond St., Redondo Beach 90277, or the ballots can be dropped off at a neighborhood polling location on election day. Energy summit moved

Wide interest in the joint energy summit scheduled for last week between Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach necessitated a change in date. Local leaders will discuss the energy crisis, how to prepare for rolling blackouts and a discussion of possible solutions. Industry experts, economists, public safety officials, conservationists and consumer advocacy representatives will be on hand, and will field questions from the public. The summit will be held Thursday, March 29 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. beginning 6:30 p.m.

Checkpoint

The Redondo Beach Police Department will conduct a "California Driver’s License and Safety" checkpoint on Wednesday, Feb. 28 between 6 a.m. and noon on Inglewood Avenue between Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Robinson Street.ER
