Police Beat: Hermosa Beach

Window saga

A Strand resident reported that someone broke her bay window during the early morning hours of President’s Day.

"Everything was fine" when she retired for the night about 3 a.m., she reported. But when she woke up about 7:45 a.m. to open the house and feed her cat, all was no longer fine.

"I felt a cold draft blowing through the house," she wrote in a report to police. "I looked and saw broken glass all over my living room floor."

That led her to the broken window and the discovery of a beach chair, that was not hers, lying just outside the window.

Cruiser taken

Someone swiped a $300 Strand cruiser-type bicycle from the unlocked garage of a home on Palm Drive sometime between last Wednesday and Friday.

Phone gone

"While out in Hermosa Beach I somehow lost my cell phone," a Los Angeles woman wrote in a report to police. She was visiting the Pier Plaza from about 10 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. the next day, she reported. ER
