Dettelbach pushes a wheelbarrow as the third grade prepares to add a
student-run garden to its list of academic activities this Spring. Third
grade teachers secured a grant from the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation
for supplies, and the school PTO supplied funds for landscaping, piping
and lumber. Community volunteer "Farmer Ed" Buker also donated
dozens of hours to help create vegetable garden beds and connect a watering
system.
