Traveler robbed
A traveler from Australia enjoyed something other than American hospitality when he lost his backpack on Saturday, police said.
The man was sitting on the citys greenbelt parkway near Pier Avenue and began talking to a stranger about 4:30 p.m., police said. After the stranger left the traveler realized that his backpack was gone as well, police said.
Missing were the backpack and its contents, a video camera and a watch, all valued together at $1,200.
Hemp?
A Hermosa woman reported the loss of her "black, medium sized, hemp-like style" purse after she was picked up from work and left the purse on a cement tree planter at the intersection of Hermosa and Pier avenues on Monday.
The woman realized she had left her purse behind and returned five minutes later, only to find it was gone. The purse was valued at $20.
Passport gone
A woman from The Netherlands left her Dutch passport unattended briefly inside a downtown Hermosa Beach establishment and returned to find it missing, she reported.
The woman had left the passport in its red sheath on the floor next to her chair for two minutes while she went to the restroom. She wrote in a report to police that the incident occurred about 10 p.m. on "25-1-2001," which means Jan. 25 in American.
Super loss
A Hermosa man reported the loss of his cell phone from a table inside a Pier Plaza establishment between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, police said.
Cell lament
"Having set the phone on the bar in front of me, I turned around to speak to someone and when I turned back around it was gone," a Hermosa man lamented in a report to police.
The incident occurred man was separated from his cell phone in a Hermosa Avenue establishment. The phone was valued at $149.
Cell gone
A Redondo Beach man lost his cell phone in a Pier Plaza establishment or perhaps in a taxicab, he reported to police.
The loss occurred Saturday, Jan. 13, and it was not immediately recognized because the man believed for a time that he had left the phone in his car, he reported.
