Ask a lawyer

Bear Mountain ski trip

Sing for fun

Celebration Community Choir, a Redondo Beach SATB choir invites men and women of all voices to join them any Tuesday evening. The group performs two concerts per year, and sings for senior retirement homes in the area. 7-9 p.m. For location and more information call 316-2066.

WALKS AND HIKES

The Palos Verdes/South Bay Sierra Club offers the following weekly walks and hikes. For more information on the following call 378-1477 or visit www.angeleschapter.org/pvsb.

Mondays – evening beach walks

This is a pleasant, moderately paced 3-5 mile social beach walk along the bike path to Malaga Cove. Meet at Veteran’s Park former library building. Great for beginners. 7 p.m.

Tuesdays – beginners conditioning hikes

This is a 1-1/2 hour hike that introduces some of the rules and customs of hiking with the Sierra Club. Meet at the Hermosa Valley School parking lot. 7 p.m.

Thursdays – leaders conditioning hikes

This is a 5-8 mile hike involving different levels of conditioning. Meet at the Peninsula Center in RHE parking lot. 6:30 p.m.

Volunteer Opportunities

The South Bay Literacy Program

This organization provides training to those interested in becoming tutors in ESL (English as a second language). Volunteers are not required to speak another language but after training are asked to commit one hour a week to the program. 212-5009

The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

The facility seeks volunteers, who after training, will conduct school children on one-hour tours of the aquarium and near-by tide pool areas. 212-5009.

Scholarships

The Torrance Y’s Men Club offers $300 scholarships for seniors who intend to major in a field that serves youths. Applicants should contact their school scholarship coordinator for more information. 540-0045.
