Identity theft

A Hermosa woman reported that her credit card information was apparently stolen, after she received a call from Western Union questioning the legitimacy of a $500 wire transfer from Arcadia to El Monte.

The woman cancelled a credit card, but she also received confirmation letters from purchases from a television shopping network, which she did not authorize.

Big rock

Someone used a large rock to break the window of a van parked in the area of First Street and Pacific Coast Highway sometime over the weekend and made off with about $2,200 worth of tools belonging to a Hermosa man, police said.

Car bust

Police arrested a woman and seized an apparently stolen car and some stolen property after noting the suspicious vehicle in the area of Fifth Street and Pacific Coast Highway about 3 a.m. Tuesday before last.

Officers noticed writing on the car’s windshield possibly signifying that the auto had been recently impounded. After a traffic stop the driver and two passengers fled, and police caught a woman believed to be the driver.

The car was left running without a key, and a screwdriver was found on the floor near the ignition, police said. Officers also recovered a Hermosa man’s stolen backpack and car stereo inside the car, police said.

Fight! Fight!

Two men got in a fight outside a Hermosa Avenue establishment about 2 a.m. Monday, police said.

One man wound up with "blood on his hands" and the other received treatment at the scene from paramedics, a police report stated. Then one of the men was placed under citizen’s arrest.

The fight was started after the alleged harassment of a woman, the girlfriend of one of the men, police said.

No wallet

A Redondo Beach woman left her purse on a table while she visited the women’s room in a Pier Plaza establishment about 1 a.m. Wednesday, and when she returned she found the purse missing. An employee found her purse, but missing from inside of it was the woman’s wallet containing two credit cards, her driver’s license, $20 and a cell phone.

Marlboro man

Some dude allegedly waltzed into a Hermosa Beach supermarket shortly before 11 a.m. last Monday and stuffed four cartons of Marlboro cigarettes into his black jacket, police said. Employees saw this and gave chase, but the man ran to a vehicle, hopped inside and sped away. ER
