Police Beat - Hermosa Beach

Crime illustrated

A Hermosa woman filed a report with police stating that she had been receiving "hang-up phone calls" from August to December, and it was "necessary to conduct a phone trace."

She illustrated the report with a frowning face, using a hand-drawn curving line for the unhappy mouth and a pair of dots for eyes.

A Pathfinder’s fender

Somebody damaged the left front door and fender area of a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder as it stood parked on Longfellow Avenue late Thursday or Friday, a resident reported.

Purse gone

A customer’s purse was stolen from inside a Hermosa market about 10 a.m. Friday, police said. Missing along with the purse were six credit cards, a checkbook and about $200 in cash. The purse’s owner, a Torrance woman, cancelled the credit cards following the theft.

Peeper flees

A 33rd Street woman heard a noise outside and opened her window curtains to see a man looking in about 10 p.m. Sunday before last, she reported to police. The woman screamed and the man ran. A suspicious man was reported in the area the day before as well.

Passport gone

A handbag with an Italian passport inside was swiped from a car parked at a Hermosa shopping center about 11:30 p.m. Sunday before last, police said.

Phone gone

A Huntington Beach man reported the loss of his cell phone, which occurred sometime Sunday, Nov. 19.

"I had the phone walking around Hermosa Beach all day. Later in the day I no longer had the phone. Lost," he wrote in a report to police. ER
