Publishing magnate Steve Forbes kicked off the Distinguished Speakers Series to a sold out crowd at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts center Tuesday. He described the present era as one of the most "extraordinary times in history... The microchip is doing for the human brain what the machine did for human muscle." Queen Noor of Jordan, consumer rights advocate and third-party presidential candidate Ralph Nader and Gulf War general H. Beach Cities Health District is offering a free class, Saturday, Oct. 21 on "Domestic Violence: Steps to Safety."
