Car Show alert

The Project Touch/Easy Reader Car Show will be held at Clark Field in Hermosa Beach Sunday Oct. 22. This year, we will have the most diverse entry list in the history of the show. The list includes pre-war models, hot rods, American muscle cars, Corvettes, race cars and exotic foreign cars. If you have kids interested in cars, this will be a fun way to show them the type of cars that us "old folks" used to drive. And there's a good chance that the car Grampa drove in high school will be there.

In addition to fabulous cars, we are going to have some excellent food from Einstein's Restaurant in Hermosa. Owner Mike Ludwig, a founder of this show, is going to serve his famous fish tacos and root beer floats. Project Touch board members serve chili, hot dogs, drinks and fresh popcorn. For the entrants and anyone else who arrives early, we will have Krispy Kremes doughnuts, bagels and coffee.

A few famous car collectors will take the stage, starting about 10 a.m. to answer questions about their cars and automotive history.

Starting a 12:30 p.m., Michael Paul Morgan and the Rogues will play some great blues/rock. This is the wonderful band that plays at the Hermosa Steak Out.

This year, we have space to accommodate about 50 Harley Davidson motorcycles. Bike fans, you are in for a special treat. Benjamin Morse will have a display of the new, American made Indian Motorcyles.

Next week, prior to the car show, Adelphia Cable will begin airing a 30-minute story on collector Tom Lieb, whose two Pebble Beach Concourse d' Elegance winners will be on display at the show.

The show is Sunday Oct. 22, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5. Kids under 12 are free. If you have any questions, contact me at khandman@gte.net or (310) 379-6319. See you at the show. ER
