Football rivalry heats up: Friday night at Redondo, the Sea Hawks'(5-0) host arch-rival Mira Costa (4-1) in the Sea Hawk Bowl. Redondo, despite their strength, has not won this match-up since 1992. Both teams are led by senior quarterbacks. Redondo's Christopher Coleman and Mira Costa's J.R. Martinez are experienced at the helm. Mira Costa has the size edge at the line of scrimmage.
Girls volleyball(3-0): Redondo persevered in a Bay League volleyball match with West Torrance. The scores were 15-2, 15-8 and 18-16. Jessika Togut set her teammates up nicely with 20 assists, Danielle Pratt poured in 12 kills while serving three aces, and Jasmine Arjasbi contributed 11 kills. Redondo improves to 2-7, 2-5, while West is now 0-7.
Boys' Water Polo (7-7): Danny Ching's five goals made the difference in a 12-2 victory over Lakewood, in a non-league contest. Redondo is now 7-7, and the Lancers' dropped to 6-5. Josh Saunders helped out, too, with two goals.
Girls' Tennis (2-2): Ofa Tulikihifo won for the ninth time this season to lead the Hawks' to a 13-5 Bay League win over SaMoHi at Redondo. Tulikihifo won by 6-1, 6-1, 6-4, while number two singles player Jessica Siebert won convincingly, too.
Girls' Golf (6-0): Marina Choi shot a 42 and was the overall leader in pacing the Sea Hawks to a placing in the first four spots and a win over Beverly Hills. The score was 129-174 at Rancho Park. Also contributing were Elena Kurakowa (43), Elena Robles (45) and Laura Enseki (53).
Girls' tennis (7-0): Mira Costa captured their Ocean League tennis match over South Torrance, strengthening their lead in the league. Stephanie Manasse and number two doubles combo Megan McConnell and Jenna Schaeffer won all three matches in easy fashion. The 'stangs are 11-1 and 7-0 in league.
Boys' Tennis: K.C. Corkery has earned $1,750 in non-high school earnings, but CIF rules prevent him from keeping it, so he has donated it to the school.
Girls volleyball: Mira Costa's volleyball team is now ranked number one in the nation. ER
