Robbery
A cab driver picked up four young men from Norm's restaurant in Torrance at the and took them to the 1200 block of Amethyst. When they got there, one of the men punched the driver, while another put a gun to his head and demanded his cash. The cab driver gave up his money, and the suspects took off on foot.
Wanna haggle?
At a garage sale on the 600 block of the Esplanade someone got away with a real steal. They didn't score a set of velvet Elvises for $1.50, but who ever it was did boost a purse and it's contents (a leather wallet, cell phone and check book) valued at $1,400 that wasn't for sale.
Think again
Two men broke into a house on the 100 block of S. Irena St. by smashing a window. They loaded televisions, stereo equipment and a computer from the residence into their truck but were caught before they could get far.
Piracy
Someone tried to pry open a hatch to a 60-foot boat on the 100 block of N. Harbor Drive. When they couldn't get it open they smashed the hatch to the main cabin. They took off with eight fishing rods and reels. ER
