Celeb Sightings: Ryan McCann, QB for the UCLA Who-Woulda-Thunk-They'd-Be-So-Good Bruins, was spotted lunching last week at Grunions Bar & Grill, Sepulveda, MB. Sean O'Donnell had his going away party at Harry O's after being traded from the Kings to the Wild, (Minnesota Wild, dumb name), and Dave Taylor, VP/General Manager of the Kings, brought the guys over there last Sunday night after practice. New: Local Band 50 Cent Haircut is now the house band Sunday nights at TJ Charly'z, Hermosa Ave, HB from 7-11pm. You can also catch them this Friday, September 29 at The Pitcher House, 2nd and PCH, HB from 9pm till close...

Anniversary Party: Tonight, Thursday, September 21, help Harry O's in Manhattan Beach celebrate its ninth anniversary. Wow, not bad for a local joint! Local faves Catch-22 are even taking a break from their Vegas gigs to play at the fête. Big congrats and keep up the good work...

Well It Sure Ain't A Dumbtini: The SMART Foundation, which raises money to help South Bay Schools with their Mentoring Programs, is hosting a fund raising event call "SMARTini Night" this Saturday, September 23. A small donation of $30 per person, (tax deductible), gets you all the martinis you can put away at "The Glass House," 620 The Strand, MB. No advance resies necessary, simply donate at the door and drink up...

Temecula Wine Tasting Tour: This Saturday, September 23, explore the wineries of Temecula, including Wilson Creek, the newest addition. The city of Hermosa Beach has organized a bus trip for all you winos leaving the Community Center at 8am, (ouch), and returning at 7pm. $20 residents/$23 non, includes tastings at all the vineyards and a souvenir glass. Call 318.0280 for more info and to register...

Beers And Booze At The Links: Plan to take off work on Monday, October 2 to participate in Grunions 2nd Annual Golf Tourney at Los Amigos Golf Course in honor of Brian Sweeney. Brian, fellow Irishman and long time friend of Grunions owner Mike McLaughlin, left us in January of 1999 after suffering from lung cancer. He was well known in the South Bay; there even exists a plaque on the bar at Patrick Molloy's, Pier Plaza, HB in his honor. Last year's event raised $1000, all donated to cancer research in Brian's name. $80 per person, (tax deductible ta boot!), includes breakfast at Grunions, round trip bus between the bar and the greens, prizes, green fees, cart, awards buffet back at Grunions and of course beer and wine on the bus and the course. The rules are four-person scramble; best ball; must use three drives from each player on the team. Closest to the pin on par 3 holes pays $50 each, longest drive pays $50, and the winning team gets $200. Hoping you know what all that means - I just do what they tell me, I don't get involved in the rules. Call Mike at 545.9910 or stop by Grunions on Sepulveda, MB for more info and to sign up - come on, it's for a good cause...

NFL: Go Cowboys! (She says with guarded optimism). And In Local Sporting News: Congrats to Chris, Sean, Michel and the rest of team Warner Bros aka The Drunken Nine, on winning the championship of the Southern Cal Sport & Social Club Tuesday night softball league. It's amazing what the threat of impending sobriety will do for some people...

Jack Daniel's Middle Name: Nichterford - nobody got it. Don't ask me why I know that but I've had that info since high school just waiting for the chance to use it...
