Two women, one about middle-aged, the other apparently a senior citizen, entered a store on the 100 block of S. Pacific Coast Highway around noon, Thursday, Sept. 7. The pair picked out a lamp and hustled it out of the store without trying to pay. Jumping into a 1995 black Lexus 4-door sedan, the two thieves try to make a clean getaway. But a witness to the theft tried to stop the car. The driver attempted to run her over. The two women fled in the car.

Triple threat

Two women and a man are suspected of stealing clothing from a store on the 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard. The man and one of the women would distract a sales clerk, while the other woman would stuff merchandise into a bag, then leave without paying.

Repeat business

Someone broke into a store on the 200 block of Portofino way twice, making off with different pieces of food-preparation equipment each time. The burglaries occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Monday, Aug. 28. Stolen were a food processor, a blender and a meat slicer.

Heads up!

A man was spotted while trying to break into a residence on the 600 block of S. Prospect Avenue. At about 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3 the man removed a window screen from the house and stuck his head through the opening. When a resident saw him, he took off.ER
