Top down
A Hermosa woman left the convertible top down on her Mercedes as she was getting her nails done at a Hermosa Avenue business last Thursday afternoon, and someone stole $90 in cash and her day planner book, police said. The woman later discovered that someone used a credit card number of hers to buy an airline ticket from El Paso, Texas, to Los Angeles International Airport.
Attempted theft
A woman was visiting a friend at the friend's Hermosa Avenue home when she heard the alarm sounding from her Jaguar parked outside shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. The woman dashed outside and saw that someone had smashed the front passenger window of her car. A witness saw a man fleeing the scene, police said.
Boom!
A woman playing with her puppy on the grass outside the Hermosa Beach Community Center Friday night had a surprise when the city began its fireworks show off Pier Plaza to honor the visiting USS Elliot destroyer. The puppy broke from its leash and ran, prompting the woman to give chase, and to lose her cell phone in the process. The next day she realized the phone was gone and went back to look for it, with no luck. She called the cell phone number and heard someone answer three times, but the person would not speak. "I repeatedly asked to return my phone but there was no replay," the woman wrote in a report to police.
