Redondo Beach Police and California Highway Patrol will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the southbound lanes of the 100 block of N. Catalina Avenue between Diamond Street and Garnet Street. The checkpoint will operate from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8.
A woman had just returned to her home on the 1500 block of Green Lane at about 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 29 after a night of gambling at a casino. An attacker tackled her, knocking her to the ground and snatching her purse. Her assailant got away on foot with the purse containing her winnings.
A young man approached a group of three women on the 1800 block of Paseo de Las Delicias at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28. The man told the women to give him their purses, after they complied he took off with two other young men in a car. The thieves scored three purses and their contents.
A man being removed from a harbor area establishment Sunday, Aug. 27, by security guards decided to fight back. The man punched one of the guards, before pushing the guard through a window. He was taken into custody.
Two cyclists were stripped of their rides and two bikes were stolen Tuesday, Aug. 29. The first incident occurred on the corner of Mathews and Aviation Way. A teenage boy, possibly with the help of a second boy walked up to a cyclist about 1 p.m. and grabbed his victim's bike. The thief ditched his old bike at the scene. The second theft occurred later that night. Four teenaged boys found their victim on the 2500 block of Robinson Avenue. Closing in, they wrestled away the victim's bike at about 8 p.m. And someone broke into a garage on the 300 block of S. Catalina in broad daylight. The thief snuck into a secured garage and cut the locks that kept the two bicycles from rolling away. ER
