Veterans park concerts
The Wednesday night concert series revs into high gear for its penultimate night. A soulful vocalist in the tradition of Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, Cynthia Manley returns to Veterans Park for the fourth time Aug. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Concerts on the pier
Even though Mardi Gras is half a year away, the Bayou Brass band will have you thinking beads, hurricanes and mint juleps. Fresh from New Orleans Square in Disneyland, it plays authentic New Orleans Jazz Thursday, Aug. 10, guaranteed. Miguel Lee and his Orquesta la Morena will be pumping out top 40 tunes with a Latin twist Saturday, Aug. 12. And that doesn't just mean a Santana/Christina Aguilera tribute show. Lisa Haley and Z Band will be bump'in Zydeco and Cajun hits as only the self-proclaimed Queen of Zydecosis can Thursday, August 17. All shows start at 6:30 p.m. and take place on the Redondo Beach Pier. ER
