Police Beat: Manhattan Beach

Something borrowed

While she wed, a woman had her purse stolen from a dressing room at the Marriott Hotel July 28. After the wedding, the bride and groom discovered that their key card would not unlock the room. Hotel security opened the door, whereupon the bride noticed that her purse, containing $1000 in cash, had been taken.

Hammered

Two men and two women crashed a wedding reception at the Marriott Hotel July 29 and began drinking for free at the hosted bar. They were at the hotel for a carpenter's union party. The maitre d'hotel asked one of the men if he was a guest of the party. He replied that he was a friend of the bride, but the bride herself disagreed. The man and his friends were asked to leave, but not before the man pushed a bartender to the ground. When police arrived, the man grudgingly left the hotel lobby, but his wife, who was making a scene, refused to leave, prompting her arrest for trespassing.

Garter belt

Moments later, another woman, the sister-in-law of the woman arrested for trespassing, allegedly committed a battery on the bride. Re-entering the reception after her sister-in-law was taken away by the police, the woman shoved the bride from behind and unleashed a profanity laced tirade blaming the bride for getting her friend arrested.
