Police Beat: Redondo Beach
Assault
Two women were in their car on the 2400 block of Marine Ave. As they were preparing to get out of the car, one of the women put her purse on top of the vehicle. A young man ran up and grabbed the purse and headed for a light-colored compact driven by another man. The other woman pursued the thief, who turned around and punched her. The two men drove off, running over the woman's foot in the process. The purse's owner lost a wad of cash along with her bag.

A woman was walking along Inglewood Blvd. north of Artesia when she noticed a nude man in a parked car near the corner of Ruhland and Artesia masturbating and smoking a joint. The girl hurried to a nearby house and called the police, but the man was gone by the time they got there.
Cat burglar
Someone broke into a house on the 2000 block of the Vanderbilt Lane while the owner was sleeping inside. After prying out a screen the thief entered the house by levering open a first floor window with a crowbar. The burglar then walked around the house, coming across the man's wallet in a pair of pants. The thief took some cash but put the wallet back where he found it.
Lost hog, suburban crime
A 2000 Harley Davidson was stolen from the 100 block of Torrance Blvd. A 1986 Chevy Suburban was stolen from the 1900 block of Bataan Road. The Suburban was recovered by Torrance Police.
