Life savers for dinner
Kick-start the International Surf Festival with the guys and gals who fish out grommets that are pounded too hard. The Lifeguard Medal of Valor Dinner benefits the L.A. County Lifeguard Trust Fund. The dinner will be held Wednesday, August 2, at Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach. Tickets are $10 per person, with cocktails at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. RSVPS are a must. Harbor cruise
Roll up to Ruby's Diner in your pre-1975 Street Rod, Muscle Car or American-made classic from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, July 28 for its Cruise at the Beach. Antique Faire

Aviation Park High Reunion
The school may be gone, but the memories remain. Graduates of Aviation High School are invited to stop by Barnaby's Hotel at 6 p.m. Friday evening July 28, to catch up with old pals. From the rockiest flat mountain west of the Mississippi, the Flatland Mountain Rock Band plays old time rock'n roll Saturday, July 29, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the Redondo pier.

Feet of clay
Local sculptor Edie Pfeifer carves human figures from blocks of solid clay, before firing and painting them in an unusual manner. Her one-woman show opens at Harmony Works located at 1705 S.
