During the month of July, the Beach Cities Health District is offering vouchers worth $45 to help defray the cost of mammograms for women, 40 years and older who live or work in the beach cities. Vouchers are good for Little Company of Mary's Women's Wellness Center. To apply, call 914-3426 x119.

Circuit Workout

This high-energy group exercise class combines short intervals of cardiovascular activity with muscular strengthening exercises. The intent of a circuit is to keep the body in continuous motion, exercising at an optimal heart rate while achieving a cardiovascular benefit. A family-based pediatric weight management program for families with children ages 6 to 14. KidShape teaches families how to lead healthy lives through changes in diet, health behaviors, and enjoyable physical activity for the whole family. Each class incorporates hands-on nutrition education, discussion groups about behavior change and body image, and 40 minutes of on-site physical activity. This class is ideal for those who want to design the ultimate conditioning program, develop a personal strategy to incorporate effective techniques for resistance training, cardiovascular training and stretching using the equipment in the Center for Health and Fitness. 6 weeks. Safe Sitter: Learn to be the best babysitter possible. This class covers important babysitting concerns including rescue skills, safety issues, and behavioral and injury management techniques. Open to children ages 11-14. Pre and Post-Natal Fitness: This practical class is designed to help new mothers and mothers-to-be maintain and improve their fitness levels through exercises approved by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Diabetes Education

Join BCHD and Little Company of Mary for this nine-week program for individuals with diabetes. Participants will learn how to improve their quality of life through weekly supervised group exercise and lectures from physicians, a diabetes educator and a dietitian. Receive assistance in creating an exercise program, planning meals and monitoring blood glucose levels.
