Two women were arrested for shoplifting last Friday on the 1800 block of Hawthorne in separate incidents. Both had placed merchandise in an empty bag and tried to leave the store. One of the women was accompanied by a man who fled when she got caught.
A 1996 red Ford Mustang was stolen from the 400 block of the Esplanade. Two other vehicles were broken into on the 500 block of the Esplanade the same night. Someone broke into a 1988 Toyota Celica by breaking the passenger door handle. A 1994 Plymouth Acclaim had both its front doors punched. The vandal tried to steal the Acclaim by breaking the steering column. That night a 1993 Oldsmobile Silhouette was also broken into on the same block. Whoever it was walked away with a cell phone.
Someone stole a laptop computer from the lounge area of a business on the 600 block of Meyer Lane.
A thief smashed the driver's side window of a white 1984 BMW 318 and made off with a stereo, speakers, CDs and a wallet. The car was parked on the 2400 block of Harriman Lane.
Three cars were broken into on the 2500 block of Mathews Avenue last Thursday night. The thief broke the windows of all of them. Two stereos were stolen from a pair of foreign-built pickups. Speakers were stolen from a 1989 Ford Mustang. A window was also smashed on white 1998 GMC Envoy on the 1900 block of Mathews Avenue the following night. A camera, CDs and a case were stolen. ER
