Small press remembers forgotten writers, artists

If Publications publisher Brooks Roddan introduces author Tim Reynolds at a book signing party at If's Palos Verdes office for Reynolds' "Whatever Happened..."

If Publications is a small press "devoted to work by artists who should have wide circulation, but for whatever reason - more often than not due to curious career moves or the capriciousness of the market - have been overlooked," according to publisher Brooks Rodden. The publisher recently hosted a book signing party for the release of If's first book, "Whatever Happened" by Tim Reynolds.
Reynolds was identified in a 1965 "Harper's" magazine article as "one of the four poets under the age of 35 to be considered the best in America.
"'Whatever happened' is an abbreviated memoir of a very bright young poet who decided, instead of becoming a career poet, to travel the world, meet interesting people and have adventures with people."

Reynolds' memoirs include reminiscences of his meetings with such literary luminaries as Ezra Pound, e.e. cummings and Robert Frost.
Books by Los Angeles painter Bob Zoell and poet Michael Hannon are scheduled for release this year by If. For information about If Publications write If, 2605 Via Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, Ca. 90274.
