A homeowner in the 600 block of 27th Street reported that his backyard water fountain had been vandalized by unknown persons sometime between May 5 and May 13. A contractor hired to fix the fountain told the homeowner that the water spout contained glue or caulk. The victim said he's had problems with his neighbor, who has complained several times about the noise the fountain makes. The victim added that he did not see who put the glue or caulk in the spout.
On May 14, at 3:15 a.m. a man was arrested for petty theft after police spotted him carrying a temporary city "Stop" sign northbound on Highland Avenue. The sign was taken from the intersection of Highland and Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
A woman, her five-year-old son, and sister were climbing the steps next to the sand dune at Sand Dune Park the morning of May 15, when a man walking the stairs in front of them disappeared into the bushes. After reaching the top, the woman began walking down the stairs while her son and sister used the dune. Midway down the steps, she heard a male voice uttering "Hey!" repeatedly. She looked into the bushes and saw the man manually pleasing himself. Another man subsequently told police that he chased the offender away. ER
