The Los Angeles County's ongoing sewer repair project will close Marine Avenue at Pine Avenue for approximately one week beginning today or Friday.
The repairs and improvements to the Joslyn Center and Manhattan Heights are almost complete. Both facilities should re-open to the public within the next week.
The Leadership Manhattan Beach Class of 2000 will create a Manhattan Beach time capsule as its official class project. The capsule's design, where it will be located and what will be placed within it are among the challenges the class faces in taking the project idea to fruition by June.

A good old-fashioned spelling bee for children from South Bay elementary schools will begin Feb. 15 at the Manhattan Village Shopping Center. The goal of the bee is to demonstrate that learning fundamentals, like spelling, can be fun.
