Boys' Basketball (15-2): Outscored North Torrance 33-5 in third quarter en route to 93-51 drubbing of the Saxons Friday. Dijon Thompson and Andrew Zahn led a balanced attack with 16 points apiece. Girls' Basketball (13-4): Trounced Centennial 72-14 last Wednesday. Freshman Krisztina Fuleki scored eight points for Redondo. Remained undefeated in the Bay League with 77-66 win at league rival North Torrance Friday. Ofa Tulikihihifo and Jennifer Owens combined for 35 points to lead four Hawks in doubles figures.
Boys' Soccer (2-13): Lost overtime squeaker, 2-1 to West Torrance last Wednesday. Redondo goalie Stephen Merriweather scored the only Sea Hawk goal on a penalty kick late in the first half. Lost 2-0 to Beverly Hills Friday.
Girls' Soccer (11-6): Fell 2-0 to West Torrance last Wednesday. Blanked Beverly Hills 2-0 Friday. Daisy DeMelo scored twice for Redondo.
Wrestling (2-0): Pinned South Torrance 46-22 last Thursday. Senior Arya Saffaie (140 lbs.)and freshman Mario Acosta (113) recorded pins. Placed 10th out of 24 teams at the Chaparral Tournament last weekend. Freshman Edwin Rodriguez captured third place in the 103-pound class.
Girls' Water Polo (14-5): Dominated Beverly Hills 11-3 last Thursday. Sarah Valencia and Lara Williams combined for nine goals to lead Redondo. Pounded Loara 10-3 Friday. Williams had five goals. Jenika Smith and Roxanne Raksnys added two each.
Boys' Basketball (9-8): Lost 48-41 to El Segundo last Wednesday despite a game-high 20 points from DeWayne Morris. Defeated Torrance 45-36 Friday. Jacob Insler scored 11 and Blake Anderson added 10 for Costa.
Girls' Basketball (10-8): Destroyed El Segundo 69-24 behind 23 points from Tara Whiteside, who played only three quarters. Defeated Torrance 57-47 Friday. Whiteside scored 30 points. Capped 3-0 week with 65-35 win over Culver City. Whiteside had 24 points, seven rebounds and six steals and Hilary Stromath added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Mustangs. See accompanying story.

Girls' Soccer (15-2-2): Dominated Beverly Hills 7-0 last Wednesday. Cosette Smith notched the hat trick for Costa, which also got goals from Krystal Scarcliff, Lindsey Veris, Sarah Gelb and Sara Davis. Tied South Torrance 1-1 Friday. Shannon Cross scored the equalizer in the 22nd minute.
Wrestling (0-1): Lost 47-21 to Torrance last Thursday. Dan Cullum (130 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 3:40.

A new domestic pro beach volleyball tour for women was formed last week, the brainchild of San Diego entrepreneur Charlie Jackson. The Beach Volleyball America Tour tentatively is scheduled to hold seven events in California in 2000, including one in Hermosa Beach June 10-11. Women beach volleyball players haven't had a regular U.S. tour since the WPVA dissolved in the spring of 1998.
Adult and Youth Roller Hockey: There are still some openings for the South Bay T.I.D.E.S. Roller Hockey Club's Winter 2000 youth and adult leagues. The youth season begins Jan. 29, with adult play commencing Jan. 25. There are six divisions for boys and girls ages 5-17. Registration is $125 and includes a team jersey. The five adult divisions are broken down by skill level and include a women's division and over-30 division. The cost is $115 for the season.
