Bristol Farms leases former Club Caprice
The former Club Caprice nightclub in Redondo Beach has been leased to Bristol Farms markets, Carie Boyce, Vice President of Real Estate for Bristol Farms, reported this week.
The 20,0000-square-foot-market is scheduled to open in July at the Club Caprice site at 1700 S. Pacific Coast Highway.
Despite the South Redondo presence of a Trader Joe's, a Whole Foods, a Von's and two Albertson's markets, Boyce said her company's research found a demand for a more upscale market in the area.
Bristol Farms' lease includes 100 parking spaces behind the former nightclub, and room west of the building for an outdoor dining patio.
Education breakfast
The Redondo Beach Partners in Education will hold its quarterly meeting on Tues., Jan..25, from 9-10:30 a.m. in the AES Building at 1100 Harbor Drive in Redondo. Charity golf
The event is not until April 4, 2000, but now is the time to begin planning if you or your company want to sponsor competitors in the first annual D. R. Reich, Inc., One Club Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tourney will aid the South Bay School District elementary schools. Proceeds from the tournament will also be used to host a Los Angeles County "Job Bank" during the tournament. The job bank effort is aimed at putting persons on public assistance back to work. County workers will be at the tourney to help with the job bank effort. The tournament will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. Actual play will commence at 10 a.m. A luncheon and cocktails will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Presentations to winners will be made at 3:30 p.m.
The rules call for participants to choose any single golf club with which to play nine holes of golf. Success may depend on making the right choice for the club. Prizes will be awarded for a putting contest, a raffle and the most creative club choice. D. R. Reich General Contractors is located at 1820 S. Elena Ave., Redondo, Suite H. The golf itself will be played at The Lakes 9-Hole Golf Course in El Segundo.
Neighborhood meet
Redondo Beach city councilman Gerard Bisignano will hold office hours Sat., Jan. 22, from 9-11 a.m. at the Alta Vista Community Center, 715 Julia Ave. The office hours are a monthly chance for residents of Bisignano's Dist. 1 to discuss issues involving their neighborhoods. Grad night 2000
Students planning Grad Night 2000 for the class of 2000 at Redondo Union High School are seeking gifts or monetary donations from businesses and community members. For more information contact chairman Steve Bopp at (310) 372-3820. The theme for the alcohol and drug free event will be 'Island Jam.'
Super Bowl 10K
The 22nd Annual Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce sponsored Super Bowl 10K run is expected to draw at least 10,000 participants. This year's 10K is being co-sponsored by Asahi Beer. The run will be held Super Bowl Sun., Jan. 30, beginning in King Harbor at 6:30 a.m. The actual race begins shortly after 7 a.m. Now is the time to register. Registration fees are $28. Corporate teams of six or more can register at special rates.
Medals and cash prizes will be awarded to winners in various categories. The racecourse is scenic and mostly flat, but an uphill grade precedes the downhill stretch approaching the finish line. For more information call (310) 376-6911.
