A free household hazardous waste roundup takes place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at Clark Stadium, on Valley Drive between Eighth and 11th streets.

The roundup is open to residents throughout Los Angeles County.

Residents may dispose of motor oil, oil filters, brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, turpentine, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides, household and car batteries, and pool chemicals.

Not accepted will be explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, business waste, trash or tires.

To prepare:

* Bring items in a sturdy box, preferably in their original containers.

* Do not mix products together.

* Limit waste to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle.

* Be prepared to leave all containers.

The roundup is conducted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and the Sanitation districts of Los Angeles County, in cooperation with the beach cities plus El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Torrance.
