BeachSports Surf and Beach camps
BeachSports Surf & Beach Camps were created in 1995 by LA County Lifeguards to provide beach and ocean safety education to local and visiting boys and girls. Beach Sports programs include surfing, boogie boarding, beach volleyball and junior lifeguard skills. Five camps are offered: Surf Camp, Beach Camp, Beach Volleyball Camp, John Featherstone’s 12-day Volleyball Clinic and the Junior Lifeguard Ocean Safety Program. Camps are located at the following lifeguard tower locations: Manhattan Beach, 14th St; Hermosa Beach, 15th St.; Redondo Beach, Ave. I; and Vista del Mar. BeachSports.org. Hermosa Beach Chevron Surf Camp
Ocean safety, basic surfing techniques and tricks, like the switch-foot. Classes have a 1:6 or less teacher to student ratio and plenty of one-on-one attention. Classes offered are 1-1/2 hours, 3 hours and 7 hours. Soft surfboards are provided and all students receive a T-shirt, Lycra surf shirt and photos. There is always a L.A. County Lifeguard and California credentialed teacher on duty. Students guaranteed to ride a wave.

Hermosa Beach Friendship Circle Surf Camp
Surf camp for children and adults with special needs. Learn ocean safety, basic surf techniques and tricks. Ages 7 and up. 2:1 teacher-to student ratio. There will be a teen volunteer paired with each student. BZ soft surfboards provided. All students receive a T-shirt, lycra surf shirt and three photos of themselves. Children must be able to swim. Perfect Day Surf Camp
Quiksilver/Roxy-sponsored Perfect Day Surf Camp has beach locations in Torrance, Redondo, Manhattan, Dockweiler, Marina Del Rey & Santa Monica. Easy Reader readers voted it the Best of the Beach surf camp. Surf and beach camps are offered for ages 3 to 17. Lessons cover stand up paddling and surfing and beach workouts. 8 a.m. to noon, noon to 3 p.m. and all day. Daily and weekly rates as low as $32/day.

Learn to skateboard or take your skills to the next level. Beginner to intermediate level. Safety instruction and instruction on basic ollies, kick turns, flip tricks, grinds, vert skating and more. A variety of ramps, rails and fun boxes, which are positioned differently each day to offer a variety of trick options. Camp activities include team games and obstacle courses. Tarsan Stand-up Paddleboard Camp
SUP Camp is for kids all ages (ideally 10 and up). Monday-Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and in the afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. July-August. Kids must know how to swim. $299/child per week. 10 percent off for additional siblings (same week only). $275/child per week if parent is a Preferred Member. $250/child per week if parent is a VIP Black Card Member. Tarsan Stand-up Paddleboards’ new location allows for marina dock access and beach access. Instructors are CPR and First Aid certified. Students will learn water etiquette, ocean safety, handling a board in and out of water and proper technique. Paddlers will be going out of the TARSAN marina dock and/or beach entrance in front of Chart House (conditions permitting).

Don’t Just Surf personal instruction
DJS provides instruction for water sports including surfing, stand-up paddling, fishing, sailing and kiteboarding. Coaching for all ages and skill levels. Owner Dave Schaefer is a born and raised local waterman, licensed Coast Guard captain, former Paramedic and firefighter Fireman, and Commercial Fisherman in Alaska and the Northwest and a lifelong competitive surer. Rates range from $50 to $90 per hour.
PV Surf teaches ocean safety, surfing , surf etiquette and appreciation for the power and beauty of the ocean. Instructors have strong water skills, multiple years of surfing experience, and are trained in CPR. Weekly camp sessions with a 4:1 ratio are offered for kids ages 6-15, June 10 through August 19. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered.

The longest running skate class in the South Bay Is held in a skate park designed for all levels of skaters. This is one of the only camps held in a private, more personal setting giving all levels of students a chance to learn and make new friends in an unintimidating environment. Learn all about safety, equipment, turning, slides, wheelies, ollies, quarter pipes, and banks.

Hammerheads, Minis and Guard Prep are for children ages four to 13. Higher-than-required camper/counselor ratios, cordoned-off areas for activities and canopies for shade. Each senior counselor is CPR certified. Snacks and drinks served daily.
Olympus Board Shop SUP, surf and Kayak lessons and tours
Lessons are designed to enable a person to be comfortable in the water immediately. Learn the fundamentals of surfing and paddling, including paddling out through the surf, maneuvering the board quickly and efficiently, “reading” the waves and catching a wave in the break zone and riding the face of the wave.
We have been conducting safe and exciting kayak and stand up paddle tours up and down the coast of Southern California since 2001. Top quality, stable kayaks and SUPs.
