Moira Dency and Brad Barts show off sugar cookies served Saturday at Dency’s Hermosa Beach home during the EPN (Environmental Priorities Network) South Bay Solar and Green Homes Tour. The cookies were baked in the Solar Oven, which sits atop Dency’s solar heated jacuzzi. Barts owns ABC Solar in Torrance. His company sells the Solar Ovens, which he describes as a “slow cooker.” It produces temperatures ranging from 250 degrees in modest sunlight to 400 degrees on hot days. Barts  said the portable Solar Ovens are popular with environmentally conscious consumers in the U.S. and in arid Third World countries where fuel is scarce. For more information visit ABCSolar.com.
